I think the large "house" towards the top of the picture may have been the "governor's palace." My mother's father was the governor (?mayor) of Beysan for some years - his name was Negib Madi - and she lived there in the early part of the 20th century. I was in Israel in 1989 and the tour took the bus from Capernaum south to (I think) Jericho I asked the tour guide could she please ask the driver to stop at Beysan and explained why, and that I wanted to take some photos. Not only did they not stop, they actually sped through the place and I saw a large building that must have been the "palace" as it still had the escutcheon plate on the wall, rusted but still identifiable, with a navy blue border. I think the building is the one depicted. I hope someone can tell me if I'm right )or even if I'm wrong.)
