2. Finding Potential Cases

If you are aware of any potential refugees from other towns whom we can interview in Jordan, please contact Mr. Rakan Mahmoud at +962-79-661-5275 with your information. Currently, we are pressed hard to interview people from towns that we have not yet covered, your help is CRITICAL since time is our main enemy.

3. Conducting Interviews

Help preserving our history and culture for future generations. To make it easier on you, we have authored a training manual and a list of questions. We suggest studying these two documents carefully, then use any available technology (such as video camera, digital recorder, or even regular tap recorder) to retain Nakba Oral History as much as you can. Once done, we will be more than happy to post your work at the site after crediting you completely for your work.

4. Transcribing

We are in need of people who have the time and patience to carefully listen to what is spoken in the interviews, and to rephrase it to traditional Arabic (Fus-haa). Then the manuscript has to be typed in Arabic text, which later should be translated to English. It should be noted that you will be COMPLETELY credited and your work shall be published next to each transcribed interview.

وان غيبك الموت عن الوجود فلن يغيبك عن الوجدان
نعم هذا ابي فان استطاع الموت ان يغيب جسده فهولن يستطيع ان يغيب روحه فهي خالدة وباقية لا تموت ابدا كما ان فلسطين خالدة وباقية لاتموت ابدا فقد كنت اراها بعيني ابي ولطالما جلسنا معه في خيالاتنا تحت شجرة السدرة التي كانت تعتبر من أكبر صالونات بلدتي التي كان يجتمع تحتها كل مسار كبار رجال البلدة وشيوخها وعلماؤها وذهبت البلدة وذهب رجالها ولكن السدرة مازالت شامخة الى الآن وهي الشاهد الوحيد على بلدتي فكيف تموت بلدتي وروحها خالدة لا تمةت ابدا الا وهي شجرة السدرة
اللهم اجمعنا بابي تحت سدرة المنتهى في الفردوس الأعلى واجعله اللهم من الذين قلت فيهم (فأولئك مع الذين انعم الله عليهم من النبيين والصديقين والشهداء والصالحين وحسن أولئك رفيقا

حين سمعته تاكدت بان ابي لا يموت ابي يا ابي ان تارخ طيب ورائك يمشي فلا تتعب .. على اسمك نمضي,فمن طيب شهي المجاني الى اطيب . حملتك في صحو عيني ..حتى تهيأ للناس اني ابي ..اشيلك حتى بنبرة صوتي فكيف ذهبت..ولا زلت بي؟ فكل مكان في البيت يذكرني بك هنا ركنك هنا جريدتك وتبغك واشياؤك وصحن الرماد وفنجان قهوتك ..ابي لم يزل بيننا واحاديثه تسامرنا ..كأن أبي بعد لم يذهب .

كلام غاية في الروعة وإنسان أروع..
كلامه عن الوطن كنز لا يقدر بثمن ترى في عينيه وبراءة كلامه الحنين للوطن وأيام الطفولة.
ابتسامته العريضة تعود بي لأيام كنانسهر فيها ليلا على ضوء القمر نلعب سوية لعبة "الكلمات المخربطة"!

أما الآن فلم يبقى سوى الدعاء له بالرحمة والمغفرة من رب العالمين.
الله يرحم روحه ويحسن إليهويدخله فسيح جناته.

تحياتي وعزائي لكل خالاتي وخوالي بما فيهم امي الغالية للفقيد جدي.
