"...والرحلة بالقطار على مدى أربعة عشر ميلاً الى المحطة التالية "بتير" كانت عبر أجمل المناظر الطبيعية والرومانسية التي قد تجعل حتى سويسرا أن تكون فخورة بها ..." هذه العبارة وردت على لسان الأمريكي سيلا ميريل في مقال نشر في "مجلة سكربنر" الصادرة في نيويورك في شهر آذار 1893 إبان افتتاح خط سكة الحديد الذي يربط يافا ببيت المقدس عبر قرية بتير. إذا كان انطباع ذلك الأمريكي هكذا مجرد مروره من بتير لحظة واحدة بالقطار، فما بال انطباع البتاتره الذين رسموا هذه اللوحة الطبيعية الرائعة غرسة غرسة ويعيشون بهاءها لحظة بلحظة. مع تحيات عمر حسن حماد - مطار الملكة علياء الدولي
