مشاركة ام عبد الرحمن في تاريخ 26 نيسان، 2008 #35974 السلام عليكم لقد تعلمت في هذه المدرسة حتى نهاية الصف السادس لأبدأ صف السابع في مدرسة ثانوية أخرى. بشكل عام المدرسة رائعة بمعلميها ومادتها وطريقة التعليم رغم صعوبتها وصعوبة المادة وكثر الوظائف خرجت منها عام 2000 لقد كانت هناك أجمل أيام حياتي!

For the record,my classmates in 1938 were:- Abed Mohamed, Abou Dheir Adnan, Abyad Adel, Achour Zouheir, Anabtawi Issa, Berouti Maurice,Bitar Mohamed, Boureau Xavier, Bsesso Souheb, Calfa Armand, Dajani Adib, Debbas Elie, Derhally Afif, Derhally Saad, Dorkhom Victor, Far Selim, Gedaa Antoine, Ghattas Elie, Ghandour Issa, Haidar Omar, Hereche Antoine, Hifaoui Elie, Isaac Joseph, Kettaneh Armand, Loulou Antoine, Massoud Joseph, Mouawad Ahmed, Moubayed Wafik, Ombargi Ismat, Sabanegh Pierre, Salahi Souheil, Yeretsian Roupen, Zagzoug Ezzeddine, Aracktingi Mario, Finan Edgar, Bitar Khalil, Nakib Chaker, Izzo Azmi, Sakka Anwar, Safadi Georges. On both sides are classes and towards the end on the left is the dining hall. At the end, through another set of doors is the school yard. On the 2nd floor used to be the dormitories for the pensioners. I was one of them from 1960 to 1968. Grأ¢ce aux frأ¨res, surtout frأ¨re Henri, j'ai eu une أ©ducation extraordinaire et j'ai appris أ  vivre harmonieusement avec toutes les cultures et rأ©ligions de la terre. En plus, cette ouverture d'أ©sprit m'a permis de parler plusieurs langues et de respecter des opinions divergentes sans nuire أ  ma propre personne ni a mes propres racines. Je suis maintenant un auteur/compositeur/intأ©rprأ¨te, rأ©cipiendaire d'un Juno en 2003 pour le meilleur album, musique du monde, au canada et souvent lors de mes spectacles je parle de jaffa, du collأ¨ge des frأ¨res et de cette merveilleuse harmonie qui existait et que je suis certain existe toujours parmis les أ©lأ¨ves du collأ¨ge, toutes nationalitأ©s, cultures et religions confondues. We had arab children from Jaffa, Nazareth & other areas. Some were Christian, some Muslim. The Freres were catholics and some lay teachers were Jewish or Christian. We all mixed & grew up together. We left College Des Freres with a solid education, values and tolerance. This also applies to the College Des Soeurs. I'm a Catholic married to a Muslim lady.This is the month of Holy Ramadan and I support her in her fasting.As to Selim El Far I regret you felt compelled to leave. Some of your friends in Jaffa didn't.I hope your years at the College gave you the basis for a good & fruitful life. Nor Daniel or myself are using this platform for political debate but to make the point that the College Des Freres & Soeurs are left out of it. They are still too close to our hearts,40/50 yrs later. Regards and may the Peace of God be with you.

I Think you should stop using my school as a medium for your political opinions with all due respect for your opinions. Especially College des freres, because that school was a perfect example of a non-political school, there were arab students, jewish students, & christian students there all getting along with each other, in many cases living and eating together if they were pensionaires. There were no distinctions between any of them, everybody was treated equally. The staff at the school was also a mixture of both arab and jewish teachers, the people who ran the school, the freres were catholics. That school was a perfect example showing that people can co-exist in peace no matter what their origin. It will be appreciated if you use another medium for your cause. This is where I received my tuition from the year 1938 until April 1948 when I left (compelled to leave) Jaffa with my family in a ship (Titus) that took us to Beirut. I still remember the name of the teachers; Frere Absalon Benoit (Director) Frere Joseph (Procureur) Frere Erlid, Frere Jean Kostka, Frere Eugene, Frere Edouard ,Frere Louis. I shall never forget that.
