Town's name through history The Romans referred to Dayr Tarif by Bethariph.
Schools An elementary school for boys which was founded in 1920, and in 1947 it had an enrollment of 171 students (still standing).

"The site, covered with the debris of destroyed houses ... The school building serves as a stable."
