Town's name through history The Romans referred to Jilya by Galla, and the Philistines called it Ekron (currently known by Khirbat al-Muqanna').
Schools An elementary school was shared with the nearby villages of Qazaza and Sajad.
Water supplies Water was drawn from several wells to the North and West of the village center.
