Town's name through history
The Canaanite and the Romans referred to Ishwa' by Eshta'ol.
Religious institutions
Ishwa' had a mosque named after the prophet Joshua (in Hebrew Yeshu').
Water supplies
Drinking water was provided by 'Ayn Ishwa', north of the village, and from few other smaller springs and wells.
Archeological sites
Ishwa' contains Khirbat al-Shaykh Ibrahim and Khirbat Hammada.

According to the Palestinian historian Walid Khalidi, the village remaining structures on the village land are:
Only a few of the village houses remain on the site, interspersed among the settlement's houses; some serve as residences and warehouses. The village cemetery, next to the administrative building of the settlement, has been levelled and planted with grass
