I have been pro-Israeli most of my life, simply because I'm American and am raised in a mostly pro-Israeli environment. However, lately after all the reading I've done I am very sympathetic to the Palestinian cause. The plight of the Palestinians is very serious and they need their own state as soon as possible. I'd say the treatment of Palestinians today is worse than that of the American blacks in the 50's. At the same time it's important to realize that the destruction of Israel at this point is impossible and should not be a major goal for any Palestinian movement. God Bless all the innocent Palestinians and Israelis, and may there be a lasting peace agreement VERY soon. The world is watching...

Our aim in the end is peace for the sake of our land and our people who have been put through hell and through some of the most unimaginable horrors all throughout those long years. I have yet hope for us although every single day is yet another struggle for the Palestinians. Our dream is one... a true independant Palestinian state enjoying the priveleges of life even if it means living side by side with Israel. Some choose to ignore the root cause of this conflict but it has always been occupation. We want to live like all the other people of the world. It is our legitimate right but unfortunately Israel is treated above the law sometimes even if it means sacrificing Palestinian rights and freedom. We choose peace not violence or terror but our frustration and anger with our surrounding deteriorating situation compels us to sometimes take measures that may seem violent in the eyes of others. It is really not that hard to understand. There is not enough international support whether for an independant state or to end occupation of territories grabbed in 1967 or to give aid to unemployed Palestinians and to improve the quality of their daily lives and economy. How can we be expected to sit silent while there is increasing frustration by the day with our status quo.

All my support and love go to the people of Palestine! And I pray (I am an Orthodox Christian) that this injustice and modern-time apartheid will one day be over! My country, Serbia, has been under many different occupation, it's in our history an genes, and we have the truth of our own!! Americans are really our favorite people, playing world policemen...It's your land, and I know that one day you will have it, until then...have faith!

We will have our Palestine back.
We will Push out the Zionist Scum.
Palestine will be a place for Palestinans Christian and Muslim.
The West Bank and Gaza is not enough, we shall never give up one inch of Palestine as the Late Rantisi said.
All of the Palestinians shall come back home and reunite with their brothers and sisters. I cannot wait, dreaming of this brings tears of excitement to my eyes.

For this to happen we must resist the occupation and fight the Zionist and expell them from our land!!

Lets go home!

Greetings to all,
It is heart worming to see so many Palestinians remembering and praising our homeland. I truly believe that we will never forget our past or where we came from. Palestine will always be our identity and hope. Without this identity and hope we cannot continue living. Please keep up this determination, and let us teach our children and grand children the true meaning of being a proud Palestinian. God bless you all.

I have been in denial too. I am a Dutch girl (24 years) and stayed in a Kibboets when I was 18 years old. Never did I imagine, in that time, the far extend of the horrific Isreali regime. Because of a book by Susan Nathan (check it out) my eyes were opened and now I must see the great cruelty that was done (and still is going on) to the palestinian people. I am not jewish or Arabic, but have always been interested in the Middle East. I am a journalist and my wish is to go and report in Israel about the Arabic Israeli minority. Here in Holland the media unfortunately does not report on this important issues. I guess because of the collective feeling of guilt about the holocaust.
For now, does anybody know of an European or Dutch organisation I can go to and offer any help?

keep up the good work Palestine remembered!

Hi
Excellent wesite
I could't prevent my tears when i viewed some pics of the old city of Al Lid ,where my father(Ahmad naser),mother and grands were born and lived.I was born in kuwait city, and never been to my homeland. My passed father used to describe Al Lid to me and my brothers almost everyday. He was 18 at 1948 when he was forced to leave the city. But he used to slink away to Al lid regularly after that. But unfortunately ,he was arrested by Israealies and put in jail for 6 years. After finishing his time in jail,he left to Kuwait ,where he married his cousine(my mother)(Nabila Naser).
He passed away on May 1990.And we left Kuwait to Jordan after gulf war began. Now I live in the UAE with my husband and my two sons, who always ask me(why we don't have a homeland?!).

i think this site is a very good sample of the resistance against the attaks that intend to delete the palestinian identity. But i think this site needs a probaganda through al jazeera or bbc channel.... i know that it is not easy to do that but i think that will be great for people because they now don't knwow the real palestinian problem. they think that they are fighting only for gaza and the west bank and they forget that 75% of the palestinian are ethnically cleansed. thank you.

This site is quiet insightful and informative for a third party viewer like me.

While not actively surprised, the true history of the situation is essentially hidden from the American public. If I had not come across the phrase "Ersatz Israel" and done a google search, I would still be staunchly pro-Israel and utterly confused by the hatred directed towards my country.

I am, politically speaking, a right-wing/conservative. I see now, in the Palestinian people, a group fighting for the rights and responsibilities that I have always believed in. The belief in the right of self-determination, personal property, freedom to practice religion, and self-defense were at the core of the revolution that created my country.

A great deception has been perpetrated on the American people. I can't come to any other conclusion. The evil that it has caused is obvious. It seems that the best aspects of my nation have been manipulated and used as a hammer against a people who should be our allies.

The people of the United States do not have any desire to destroy Islam. I am no longer sure about the government of my country. I am no longer sure who controls the direction of my government.

It has become clear that everything that I thought I knew about the Israel/Palestine conflict was wrong. I can't express how sickened I am. This web site is an incredibly valuable source of information. I will be certain to encourage others to visit it.

I had believed that the Jewish people created their state in a desolate and largely uninhabited land. I was led to believe that the Jewish people were relentlessly attacked for no reason other than anti-Semitism. When I thought of Palestinians, the images my mind conjured were of burning American flags, screaming violent crowds, and the blood of Israeli civilians.

Many thanxxxx 4 this great website. Hope to see newer links and information. It's what encourages us to come back and read more. Hopefully we can educate others about who we are and our cause for justice and freedom and that we are able to send a clear message to the world who thinks least of this issue in its list of priorities and is sleeping on it in the hope that we and the Israelis will resolve it ourselves and sort out our differences but we need the world to step in and defy occupation and violence to Palestinians, to rebuild and develop our economy.
Posted by Misha on NOVEMBER-5-2005 #9848

They forced us to leave our country and home behind and become citizens of another country, like that would make things alright for us. We may have become Jordanians, Lebanese, Americans, Canadians, Australians or born as citizens of another country and assimilate into their society but our true identity has always been Palestinian and so will we remain that way.

The Fifty-Seventh Memorial Day of Safsaf Massacre

Oct. 29,1948 was The Black Day, The Day of Safsaf Massacre on which the Zionist Israeli criminals Brutally Butchered more than 70 men and Ethnically Cleansed out the people of Safsaf * the Legitimate Owners of the Land and by force occupied the village. Let it be known to all that we shall never ever forget that day and swear to pass that Memorial Black Day with its savage acts and painful memories to all our young generation after generation with its detailed unforgotten scenes and keep up the cause alive.

Long live Palestine. Our Homeland Palestine is for Palestinians.
For sure we all shall and will RETURN and have our own state.

The only one solution that could work is not the "two states side-by-side" which will only lead to tension and mutual distrust. It is one single state wher Palestinians and Jews can live as co-citizens of an equal, democratic state.

I would just like to say to people to not attack the so-called "Sephardim" or "Falasha" "Jews". These people are descended from the ancient Israelites and Edomites and thus are entitled to some respect. It is the "Ashkenazi" who are the terrorists and white-supremacist fascist Nazis. The distinction must be made. Before the creation of the so-called "state Of Israel" the Palestinians and the "Sephardim" (ie Israelites) lived in peace together in the land of Palestine, and must Sephardim/Israelites considered themselves to be Palestinian. Once the Turko-Slavo-Germanic AshkeNAZIS took over though, everything turned into a bloody mess. To lump all the so-called "Israelis" together is not fair to the true Israelites(not the Sharons and Netennayhu bigots).

Its good that you are documenting all the lost Arab villages and property. The Jews are doing the same for their depopulated communities of the Arab World. This way we can calculate who owes money to who in the final peace conference.

The Gaza Strip is the world's largest open air prison. Getting out of Gaza requires special permits and border crossings. While others would see the Mediterranean as a sanctuary away from the hardships of the world, most Gazans see it as a liquid wall, housing them against their will like the inmates of Alcatraz.

What is surprising about the Palestinian people is their resiliency and resolve. They have demonstrated that they can withstand anything the Israelis dish out, no matter how painful, in defense of their fundamental rights. Many Israelis now understand the Palestinians' determination to secure their rights, and most of the world is supportive of their aspirations.
Now it is the time to rebuild Gaza and make it a model for the next cities to come. It is the time for our arab brothers and euoropien friends to give the palestinians in Gaza a chance to rebuild their city after 38 years of distruction and occupation by Israel.
Lets make Gaza the Honkong of palestine ؟.
Ksa, Uae, kuwait, Morocco , Jordan , France , Egypt, France, Greec ؟ and all our friends if u couldn؟t help us in our struggle, at least help us in rebulding our home,

Even though he was only 8 years old in 1948, the picture is very vivid in his brain. This site has been great and has added some visual support to my fathers stories.

i WAS IMPRESSED BY THE DEPTH OF INFORMATION PALESTINE REMEMBERED HAS ABOUT EARLY ZIONIST FIGURES. I ATTENDED ZIONIST SUMMER CAMP IN THE US AND LATER SERVED IN THE IDF. THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A SOFT FOCUS ON SOME OF THE QUOTES YOU MENTIONED IN ZIONIST EDUCATION BUT WHEN YOU COMBINE THEM WITH THE ACTUAL EVENTS THAT TOOK PLACE FROM A PALESTINIAN POINT OF VIEW, WELL ITS AN UGLY FACE THAT STARES BACK IN THE MIRROR. I DO SEE ISRAEL AS AN APARTHIED STATE BUT I HOPE FOR A FUTURE IN WHICH THERE CAN BE TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION. TRUTH WITHOUT HATRED AND RECONCILATION WITHOUT FEAR. THRERE CAN BE NO PEACE WITHOUT JUSTICE

After being married to a Palestinian for almost fifteen years, and living among his family in an Arab village in the galilee area I can say that I'm grateful for the change in my life. Getting to know the Palestinians'way of life and learning Arabic have made me see that the Western man's narrow-mindedness has caused numerable misconceptions about Arabs and the whole Moslim world. The war against terror has turned into a war against Arabs and Islam out of sheer fear of the unknown. The West does its best to depict Arabs as primitive, beastly creatures, meanwhile ignoring its lack of depth in values concerning human rights in this world. Hoping for freedom for the Palestinian people, I would like to encourage them not to lose the belief that one day things will get better.

For days as I read and watch the media coverage of the Gaza evacuation I wonder where is the context of this story? Why doesn't the media contrast this patient evacuation of Jewish illegal settlers from Gaza with the forced evacuation of Palestinians from Palestinian land in Gaza? Rafah, a Palestinian city on the Egyptian border has had over 2500 homes bulldozed by the Israeli occupying army resulting in over 17,000 homeless. More Rafah homes are targeted for demolition. Why is there no coverage of those suffering families? There is no compensation being offered for their losses or promises of a new place to live. Palestinian families are not given sympathy or tears in their forced eviction. No patience for these refugees who also pleaded for their homes. Peaceful protests were met with tear gas, and lethal rubber bullets. On March 19th 2003, Rachel Corrie, a young American college student stood between a bulldozer and a Palestinian home in Rafah where she was brutally murdered by being run over twice. There has been no Bush Administration concern that the driver was not punished in any way for her murder. Palestinians who would try to stay in their targeted homes would be bulldozed over not coaxed with tears and rubbing of soft cheeks. The Palestinians have a legal right to their home and lands. The illegal Jewish settlers were placed on the land by an occupying army which is against International Law and Geneva Conventions.

Consider how much sympathy Americans would have if Mexico put Mexicans in California by clearing off American citizens from their private land, bulldozing homes, orchards and crops and then created Mexican only settlements with Mexican only roads coming and going to the Mexican border clearing more homes in its wake. Considering the attitude many Americans have for illegal immigrants to the US (who come to be part of our communities and live and work among us rather than set themselves up as "chosen" and entitled to the best of our land) imagine what Americans would do if they were besieged by such zealots? Would they cry for them when their government or ours moved them back home?

Warmest greetings from the Galilee, the heart of historical Palestine.
Yes, Palestine IS remembered.
But on the ground (inside the Jewish state where the process of Judaizing the country is still going on, and in a speed higher than ever before), what remained of the ruins of the pre-1948 Palestine is rapidly disappearing, and with it disappears not only the concrete witness of our people's Nakba in 1948, but also the concrete evidence of our people's right to their homeland. Therefore it is absolutely necessary not only to remember, as a state of mind, but also to document and immortalize the current status of these ruined communities before they disappear, and to revive and renovate them if possible.
To let you and the world see with the naked eye the current status of these communities within the 48 area, I take pictures of as many such communities as possible and post them in a special website on the internet. The most recent pictures were taken just 3 days ago (August 19, 2005) of the following towns and villages (some of these communities don؟t have any pictures in Palestine Remembered): Al-Mansi, `Ein Al-Mansi, `Ein Ghazal, `Ein Hawd, Al-Ghubayya Al-Fouqa, Al-Ghubayya Al-Tahta, Al-Lajjon, Al-Mjeidel, Al-Naghnaghiyyeh, Atlit, Ijzim, Jida, Jubbata, Khnefis, Ma؟lul, Sarafand, and Umm Al-Zinat (in addition to Akka, and Tabariyya) Unfortunately, I haven؟t had the time yet to write the text for these pictures, but you don؟t have to wait for the explanations to see them. They are posted in the following URL: http://www.jalili48.com/pub/En_PhotoGallery.ASP

With best Palestinian greetings,

This was the week of the "Gaza disengagement" I was disturbed by the media coverage from an "Israeliocentric" position but want to assure you that some of us in America are waking up to the nightmare the Palestinians have lived for over 50 years. I support the campaign against the apartheid wall and pray for justice for the Palestinians.
I reject the scripted lies that the media has perpetuated.

As I read this & other message boards & websites, & keep track of the developing situation in the Middle East, I can't help but get a fleeting glimpse in my memory of the 1960 movie, "The Exodus" with Paul Newman and Eva Marie Saint, which I recall viewing as a child. If I am remembering correctly, it somewhat glorified the fact that the discriminated-against Jews had finally found a safe homeland: Palestine. As a child, I couldn't help but believe that this was a very good thing. Afterall...they had been so severely persecuted, even exterminated in some places. But then why is it that so many years later when I read the facts of the establishment of Palestine, that I can clearly see how "wrong" it was? To tell these people who were leaving their own homes and countries back then (because of discrimination) that they could now go and settle in this one place -- and displace and mistreat the people WHO WERE ALREADY THERE????? How bizarre is THAT?! My 12-year-old even recognizes the unfairness. But do I have any answers to the mess all these years later? No. Do I wish all the bloodshed would and could stop? Yes.

Moderated jews said solution to the conflict is "to talk, talk and talk"... solution is to Stop the Invasion of a foreign land. Terrorist acts from a minority of extramists can't be answered with the devastation of entire towns and families by USA - paid armament. If terrorism is not legal, neither is this.
Courage from Spain, dear palestinians. We suffered arabic terrorism last year in Madrid but here the vast majority of us think that your country are legitimately asking for your land. May terror stops, be it illegal or legal. Sharon is the modern Hitler.

c) The Palestinian people, no matter how difficult it seems under these atrocious conditions they suffer every day, MUST try to restrain themselves from such murderous ways of revenge - resistance as the suicide bombings against civilians in Israel. No matter if someone can understand why they reach such points of desperation and anger, he cannot justify such methods of collective punishment, which is a nazi invention and finally turns against the noble purpose of their liberation.
Victory to the Palestinian people!
Solidarity to the grassroots struggle of the population against the criminal IDF!
THANK YOU

b)I won't deal with the Zionist "arguments" about if they had the "right" to do what they do to the Palestinians and seize their land. They 're ridiculous.NO ONE HAS ANY RIGHT TO FEROCIOUSLY STEAL THE LAND OF A WHOLE PEOPLE AFTER CENTURIES AND CENTURIES, JUST BECAUSE HE CLAIMS THE...WELL OF ABRAHAM - OR I DON'T KNOW WHO ELSE - WAS IN THIS LAND.This paranoia shows clearly what ideology can sometimes do to the minds of the people:it can drive common logic to extinction, make you unable to see the material reality. To allege such a thing, is as if we could also claim that, if supposedly the Indians in North America had the military power to return, they had the "right" to occupy, devastate, demolish and kill the present american people just because..."Manitu" (their God) promised them this land 500 or more years before. This is crazy.THE THING IS:THE JEWISH PEOPLE, AS ANY PEOPLE OR ANY HUMAN BEING ON THIS PLANET, HAD AND HAVE THE RIGHT TO MOVE TO WHEREVER THEY WANT AND WHENEVER THEY WANT.BUT, THEY DIN'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO DO IT THE WAY THEY DID, GOING TO SOME PLACE NOT INTENDING TO PEACEFULLY CO-EXIST AND SHARE ITS GOODS WITH THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO ALREADY LIVED THERE, BUT AIMING TO VIOLENTLY MAKE THEM EXTINCT AND KEEP THE PLACE ONLY FOR THEIR OWN SAKE.This is a hard-to-conceive paranoid idea that stems from a combination of geopolitical interests of the planet's great powers and the racist and nationalistic nature of the Zionist and religious - maniac ideology.

I 'm a 32-year-old man from the island of Crete, Greece, and i recently visited Palestine to participate in the actions that take place against the injustices the Palestinian people suffer every day. I participated in the demos organized by the villages of Bil'in, Marda (Salfit), Beit Surrik and other places, and witnessed the atrocities of the I"D"F against kids and unarmed men and women.I 'd like to add a few things here:
a)The Greek people traditionally and strongly sympathize with the Palestinian liberation struggle. There'a even an association of greek citizens named "Indifadah" whose purpose is to support the Palestinian cause - and many other informal groups of individuals who continuously organize interventions in favour of the Palestinians

Thank you for this wonderful website.

I have visited Palestine twice and both times I was treated with kindness not often found here in the US. The Palestinian people that I met took me (a total stranger) into their homes like I was family. I will never forget that.

The most important thing to remember is that home is always in your heart. No one can take that away. Like the man in the photo on the Palestine Remembered website holding a key symbolizes, that front-door key will keep alive the memories until the day when justice will prevail.

Assalaam alaykum.

We have been holding on to our dream of a Palestinian state for so long. How much longer do we have to wait????? Why should we be any different to everyone else. It is also our land and we will not accept to give it all up. It also seems we are not getting enough support from the rest of the world. The world contributes so much aid to other needy nations but while our people suffer in silence, no one seems to care much. God bless Palestine

not all Jews are "Zionists" we just want peace and safety after a traumatic history. Promoting hate continues hatred. The only way to a solution is to talk, talk and keep talking until we can find a way to live together.

Which one was there First: Palestine or Israel?
Whenever you are trying to talk to a Zionist, he always try to mention that there has never been a Palestinian state or a Palestinian kingdom throughout the history. Contrary to what their Torah states in Genesis 26:1 ( ؟ ؟ Now there was a famine in the land, besides the former famine that had occurred in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went to Gerar, to King ABIMELECH of the Philistines ؟؟.) so as we can see that their own Torah confirms the fact that there was a Palestinian Kingdom, and Abimelech was their king at the time of Isaac.
As far as who was there 1st, I think the verse in Exo13:17 says it all: ؟ When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them by way of THE LAND OF THE PHILISTINES, although that was nearer; for God thought, `If the people face war, they may change their minds and return to Egypt؟؟

"The Palestinians are descendants of the Canaanites and were in Palestinelong before the Jews". The Zionists on the other hand claims that the Palestinian are not related to the Canaanites .

Recently I was reading the bible and came across an interesting verses in Genesis. If proven to be true, it will be a slap on the face for all who claim that Palestinians are not related to the Canaanites (especially the JEWISH VIRTUAL LIBRARY who posted this statement in (http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/myths/mf1.html#a... ) an evidence from their own book, what more they want !! read the following and be the judge yourself.

In Gen 9:18 , Gen 10:6-20, Gen 10:14 , it states that Noah has three sons: Sam, Ham, and Yafet. and it states that Ham is the father of the Canaanites. Let us read through more in Genesis and go to the verse in Gen:6-20 and Gen10-14. In these verses it states clearly the sons of Ham in detail and specifically Gen 10:14 that mentions the CASLUHIM whom the philistines or philistim came from. BAM ... lets go back and review what i just mention in a simple way:

Noah >>> HAM (the father of the Canaanites) >>> CASLUHIM >>> Philistines.

Conclusion: the old Testament STATES CLEARLY that the philistines came From Canaan, and to all who disagree with this statement, Read the verses above.
Palestine Our Land.
