Love and best wishes from England.Fantastic!!!So much information to show the disgusting things that were done to the Palestinian people. Not forgetting Israelis and Jews who stand up for their fellow men and women. Leadership comes from the people, not the powerful and political leaders. The Palestinians existed, exist and will always exist!Look at www.schnews.org.uk.Lots of important stuff reported here. With a bit of fun as well.

first of all, i'd like to say how wonderful your site is. i'm icelandic and danish, but i feel palestinian. i actually tell people that we are all palestinian, even those that don't know it! i shall write more another time, but what i have been wondering is where i could purchase a map of palestine, with also the old names of all the golan heights. my husband is syrian, from golan, and i feel it's extremely important for our son to 1) know the truth about palestine, and 2) know where he's from. i saw an interview with edward said on tv5 the other day, and he had this lovely framed map of palestine. needless-to-say i was envious! any chance somebody could drop me a line with an address or link where i can see a REAL map of palestine, golan, everything, the way it should be and will, insha'Allah. NOT the way it is at present.

thank you.....i said to my husband the other day, wouldn't it be nice to get into a car and travel from damascus to al-Quds and then to jaffa? wow...we all have to keep that dream alive, that's something israelis CANNOT take from any of us. we know the difference between right and wrong, and no amount of media bombardment will change that! i'm in the process of writing a book on palestine, maybe it wouldn't be famous, but if i can reeducate just a few souls, then i have tried.

good luck, Allah makum!

Brother Jews and Muslims, please be aware that we are all the sons of Adam and obey the One G-d which takes no partners and begets no sons. There is more in common between Judaism and Islam, the only 2 truly monotheistic religions on Earth than with any other religions.

In fact Islam is an advanced form of Judaism. Please see the site: http://www.jews-for-allah.org

This site helped me see the light and convert to Islam. I'm Jewish by birth and Muslim by faith. I appeal to all the Jews and Christians who come to this wonderful site to look into it and embrace Islam, the religions of human brotherhood.

Fellow Jews, in Islam we are brothers of the Palestinians and Israel will become one state for both our peoples. See why tens of thousands of Jews embrace Islam. Read stories of Jewish converts, including former Rabbies.

Peace to all of you.
I am so proud of this site and many others dedicated to keeping the memory of our Palestinian cities and villages alive in our hearts and minds. I am a second generation Palestinian born as a refugee in lebanon. My great uncle was one of the last group that defended the old city in Acres. When the city fell he went into hiding for 10 days then he was captures , tortured and jailed for number of years then was eventually released . we lost contact with him as my grandfather fled acres with the rest of the family by land and ended up in tripoli lebanon.we heard that my great uncle got married and had kidds but we don't know anything more about him. My Grandmother have told us the accounts of that sad day and made sure that we remembered that my great Grandfather was the Imam of AL Jazzar masjid and my father still remember the streets of the old cit and its famous wall. Dear all: Thanks for a great site. This is old news, but I wanted to let you know that I wrote a column last summer for the San Francisco Chronicle about the history of the land Intel chose for its factory in what the Israelis call Qiryat Gat. The paper has now fired me (for participating in a demonstration against the war on Iraq and, I'm sure, partly for the column on Intel), but that column is still available at LINK, in case you want to add a link to it on your site. (I drew heavily on your site in my research and included your URL in the piece.) Regards, Henry Norr (International Solidarity Movement volunteer, May 2002)

As a citizen of Kyriat-Gat, which was built near Iraq el Manshie, I was very upset every time I walked on the road, going for example to the Cemetery, and passing very near the place where Iraq el Manshie was. I thought that on this very spot, people lived, worked, prayed and were buried. I thought "where is their mosque, where is their cemetery ?". May be it is an unrealistic dream, but I beleive that it would have been better to have still an Iraq el Manshie as a neigbouring village to Kyriat Gat, with old people who would telle us stories of the past about this region. neither Kyriat Gat instead of Iraq el Manshie, nor Irak el Manshie instead of kyriat Gat but both of them. I do not find any of the quotes showing the "anger of the zionist government" of israel. From the quotes I have read, I can explain to any one out there any quote, so any one out there, if any quote makes you angry, tell me which one and I will shed light on it.

p.s. - I do sympathize with the situation of your peoples.

I am an american who supports your struggle, and I truely command this website for its richness of information.

If you find the quotes section of this website informative and enjoyable as I do, because it shows the true anger of the zionist government, then I suggest as you read the quotes, you pick your favorite, a famous one, and do quick web search on it to find the full document. Although the quotes shown on the website are the best part of the full document that shows the anger of the zionist government, you will be amazed at what insight you will gain into their angry thoughts when you read the full document.
Stay strong.

Your efforts are highly appreciated. It is crucial that Palestine remains in the minds of every Palestinian and Arab. This remembrance is the sure way of not letting the Zionists win.Palestine will always be in every palestinian heart.

Comrades,

I commend your site. It is beautiful, informative and in-depth, and deals eloquently with the questions and propaganda of the zionists. Great use of quotes as well, the Zionists damn themselves in their own words.

I particularly liked your response to the "drive into the sea" argument.
This is an important project, it is important to spread the word about the situation of the Palestinians and counter the lies and distortions of the mainstream media.

I first became interested in Palestine at High School when one of my friends told me he was Palestinian and informed me about some of the situation there, I've since become involved with revolutionary Socialist politics and have done much more reading up on the situation and have met many more Palestinians who are dedicated activists.

I think a one-state democratic secular state position is the only solution, the two-state theory has never in practice meant two states but instead has meant the tired and now bankrupt Palestinian leadership accepting a limited autonomy under Israeli control with the Israeli's maintaining direct control of water, roads etc. While the ever increasing settlements have driven the Palestinians onto tinier and tinier 'bantustans' that in effect are practically homelands, such as in Apartheid South Africa.

Likewise the corrupt Arab regimes throughout the middle east can not also save the Palestinians as they are too tied in to US imperialism and/or maintaining their own privileges. It's going to take a popular uprising from the Arab people across the middle east to solve the situation.

I wish you all the best in your endeavour to inform other Palestinians and the world in general about the plight of your people and the occupation, dispossession and ethnic cleansing they have faced for over 55 years.

Yours in solidarity, freedom for Palestine,

Matthew Rayner

Since the current "crisis" with Iraq started, the Israeli Army has killed an American peace activist working in Palestine - running over her with a bulldozer, they have killed another, shooting him in the face, and most recently a British peace activist was shot and seriously wounded while working with Palestinian children in the occupied territories.

Could it be that the Criminal Government of Israel is using the war in Iraq as a divertion - in order to have a go at the international peace activists in Palestine?

I never cease to be amazed by the incredible ignorance in the U.S. about what is really happening in the world. I fear that most people whose lives are not directly affected (for now) though they may realize something is wrong, choose to ignore it all because they know in their heart of hearts that humanity's condition is hopeless, there's nothing they can do about it, and there's no reason to even talk about it. This very attitude will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. The only hope I see, is for all of us who at least are willing to TALK about it all, actually TALK to everyone they can at every opportunity. See WWW.WHATREALLYHAPPENED.COM, WWW.NOWARFORISRAEL.COM, WWW.LIBERYFORUM.ORG. Follow the links, forward the best examples of the truth revealed to email contacts, and TALK, WRITE, SHOUT from the rooftops!

Israel Invented Modern-Day Terrorism using USA as a Vehicle to Deceive the Whole World and Mislead it, in order to Enlist Freedom Fighting in Palestine under Terrorism and keep Sharons Killing and Destruction
as a legitimate reaction in Palestine. The first victims
were the Palestinians and the Arab Rulers who were all cheated by that.
Long time ago, Israel succeeded in convincing USA and
paved the road for this war going now in & against Iraq.
Last week, Biased Col.Powel, US Secretary, officially put it and clearly confirmed what his Zionist Bosses are determined on, Israels Security and Safety which comes first to them, as I understood it.
This is what Mathew a US citizen put it here on this
Website, April 2,2003. ؟I feel, as an American, the current Illegal War on Iraq is nothing than an excuse for Zionists US government to take over Iraq one of Israels biggest enemies.؟ This is what he felt and believed. Thanks Mathew, I do agree with you. The US Zionists, trying to convince their people in USA by engulfing the outside Reality and Purposes of such war, were Sadam and his Mass Destruction Weapons that endanger USA, imagine this! But the Hidden purposes on the other side at the back were, Safety and Security of Israel first then the Gulf Oil, which were both, the real true reasons for this illegitimate and illegal war.

I was particulary impressed with finding "Zionist Quotes", which most American supporters of Isreal have no knowledge of. The maps and polulation charts of Palestine in 1945 are such a revealing testament to what "Israeli Democracy" is all about- ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. For those of you who have children in schools in the Unites States, I would urge you to challenge local school boards to include some of this information in the school cirriculum. My heart goes out to all the Palestinain and Arab people who have suffered such injustice at the hands of Israel and the United States.

Hi everyone, my name is Matthew, I reside in Los Angeles, Ca. I've been studying the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for a year or so and I feel for the Palestinians. I'm angry at the U.S. government and the Zionist that control it. Check out my website: http://www.matthew.jeeran.com I feel, as an American, this current war on Iraq is nothing more than an excuse for the Zionists in the U.S government to take over Iraq, one of Israel's biggest enemies. I think that the land of Iraq is crucial in the original plans for Zionist occupation years ago when ZIONISM started. Of course, in the Jewish controlled media here in the U.S., we never hear ANYONE say the word ZIONISTS. it's politically incorrect, yet true. My sister converted to the Muslim faith over 10 years ago(she lives in Qatar)and we've spoken much on the subject of Jewish sepremecism in the U.S. media and government. I pray for PEACE to prevail in this terrible and illegal war, and hope to help expose the ZIONIST that control this country. All the best to all reading..PEACE TO PALESTINE!!! The American Government who is ran by the idiot Bush is ruling the world. Nothing can be more dangerous than idiots running the world. The Support for Israel and the way western media overlooks the suffering of the Palestinians is very painful. I am denied my basic right to live in my homeland, as a refugee whose family was pushed to the sea in 1948 I salute all our Palestinain heros who are giving up their lives for one hope that will be passed on from one generation to another....the hope that my grandfather and father has passed to me as a first generation refugee....the hope to unchain our beloved Palestine. And to every Zionist and every "Bush" I say that this war will never end with our humiliation. Us Palestians will never bow our heads for you. With the Strength and faith of all Palestians- Christians and Muslims- I say the end will come soon and justice will shine out of the clouds. 54 years have passed.....I have never seen my homeland but we will keep breeding generations of heros.....we will never give up on you our beloved PALESTINE! And let America chant about freedom and justice....America a country that was built on blood and murder of the Native people of North America. America, a country that erased the memory of the true people of N. America. Justice will prevail and bring all unjust regimes...those COVERT and overt to their end soon! Hello,
It seems to me that if one is an Arabian hell raiser, one just goes to "Palestine" and persuades some child to wear a dynamite bomb to kill Jews and they will see Heaven and the 72 Virgins they missed on Earth.
This has worked for Arafat who may live forever and seems to have that "perfect possession" necessary to be a "Palestinian" activist. May he die soon and have pork in his mouth! Arafat has killed and maimed more innocent people than Hitler, his idol. The Moon God really protects those he owns.

I hope that in the future there will be cooperation on both sides of this issue. With cooperation there can be prosperity for all. The current state of hate on both sides of the issue causes more hate and anguish and senseless death. With an end to terrorist tactics on both sides and aparteid like represion of Palestinians hopefully an end to this struggle will benefit everyone involved so that there is no winner and loser, but winners on both sides. The Palestinians deserve better than there current situation and a compromise will help to propel them into the future with limitless possibilies. The Israelis need to realize that the energy it requires to oppress a large number of Palestinians is counterproductive to to their own goals of security and prosperity. The key issue is trusting the other sid and right now their is a shortage of trust for good reason. Terrorist attacks followed by IDF retribution is a sad state of affairs.

I was shocked at the recent National Geographic article about the oppression that Palestinian people suffer. I only hope that someday the brave People of Palestine will recover their homeland, and that all people of the area, both Jewish and Palestinian can live in harmony. I fear this will never happen though, under the current fascist Israeli regime. Best regards to all Palestinians.

Peace will only come when Israel and Palestine unite in one state, binational with equal citizenship for Jews and Palestinians. Fellow Palestinians, unite with Peace Now and the Israeli peace camp. Then Sharon and Likud will be defeated, and the new state "Isra-tine" will prosper and give opportunities to both our peoples.

Divided we will both be poor, united we will be prosperous and live in peace in the same state.

Dear Concerned American,

When Palestine was under Jordanian and Ottoman rule in the past, there was no policy of genocide against the Palestinian people - they were not being regularly kicked off their land into crowded refugee camps, they were not being shoved aside to make way for the Jewish master race returning to its dubious historical "homeland".

Sharon has recently authorised the airlift of 20,000 "Jewish" Ethiopians to Israel - more than likely to be housed in settlements which until recently were Palestinian sovereign territory. This is because there is a consistent policy by Israel to marginalise and dis-possess the Palestinian people, by all violent means, to create the Greater Israel that these immigrant racist neo-nazi Jew - thugs want. If you think I exagerate, then look at a map showing all newly built illegal Israeli settlements over the last five years.

Ottoman and Jordanian rule are no comparison to Israeli barbarism.

I read these responses from concerned people around the world and can only wonder why people seem to think there ever was a country called Palestine. Where was the intifada when you were ruled by Jordan? Where was the intifada when you were ruled by the Ottoman Turks? Why didn't the world come to your aid when Jordan ruled all of present day Israel and the Palestinian territories? Why? How did a Ghandi through his peace movement overcome the British Empire and gain independence for a gigantic country called India. I am not supporting any of the attrocities that Israel has inflicted on the Palestinian people nor am I supporting the Islamic radicals attacking the Israelis, but it seems to me that if you people, both Palestinians and Israelis, keep going down the same path of conflict it will never end. You have an old Man ( Arafat) running your government. Whether you consider him a terrorist or freedom fighter he has dammaged your cause not helped it. I personally believe that the Arab world needs to get rid of it's dictators and allow a democratic system to be put in place in order to assimilate with the rest of the world instead of the isloation, fear and mistrust that most Americans currently feel about this troubled part of the world. I would love nothing more than to one day travel to a free and independent Palestine with my family and take in your beautiful country and culture but I don't think that will ever happen because of the constant hate.

I am the proud grandson of two well known and respected freedom fighters, and their legacy has been passed onto myself, through education, passion and the will to continue our proud heritage as Palestinian. This great website has been a great aid to fullfill my short term goals of publishing a thesis on the true conflict between the Palestinians and the Zionist state.

My name is Cheryl and I have been working for the cause of Palestine since the late 1980s. Oddly, I was introduced to Palestine by a fellow student in a donut shop.

I used to meet friends at the shop every week, and quite frequently, I saw an intriguing looking man with dark hair and bright blue eyes. He usually looked sad, and one day I decided to introduce myself.

He told me he was from "Palestine," and not wanting to seem ignorant, I looked it up on the world map but couldn't find it. When I inquired as to why, he began his story. Frankly, I thought it unbelievable, and I lectured him on the freedoms inherent in democracy and our "free" press.

Somehow he restrained himself from becoming angry with me for my combination of arrogance and ignorance, and simply suggested some reading. I read, and my eyes were opened. There was no going back.

17 years after that fateful encounter, I am still an active peacenik. I went to the historic march on Washington last year and was so moved by the support (and the sea of Palestinian flags) that I couldn't stop crying.

I have an entire library of books on Palestine, and I have written countless letters on behalf of this cause. Palestine is in my heart. I love you, especially our brave Children of the Stones.

I commend you for this marvelous effort. Until the Israelis and the entire gang of zionist hoods who supports them get it through their skull caps that the Palestinians will never ever go away, shall never ever forget their Palestine -all of Palestine, and shall fight for it by all means available without ever giving up, then and only then there maybe a chance for peace.

Your keeping the memory of Palestine and the Palestinians alive is a thorn in the eyes of our adversaries, and a flame to enlighten the dark minds and hearts of teh ones that support them. By your gallant efforts, you are telling about a people who refuse to be vanquished against all odds.

God Bless you all, whoever you maybe.

I have found that many pro-Palestine websites do not, leaving the oprotunity for zionists and the generally mis-informed american public to label it "propoganda". sadly it has ben my experience that the only way to criticize israel is to find an enlightened Jew or in rare cases ex-Israeli citizens who have seen through the haze of nationalism to the truth.

I was very impressed that an American, starting from scratch, would recognize the suffering inflicted upon Palestine in just several hours of reading. Would that the nation would pick up their books or open their computers and FIND OUT. Someone said that for evil to triumph, it is only necessary for good men to do nothing. I came to this site looking for memories of when we drank Latrun brandy 45 years ago and was surprised to find so much other information. Thank you for your site.

About the Americans and Jews hiding everything...It's true...but only those "the Marxist Zionist" that are trying to control everything and the American leaders that are letting them get away with it. A very big picture that I'm just beginning to see the light from it.
The pictures the Americans are being painted are very wrong. The Marxist are buying most of the news papers, the "Free Press" is dieing. That hurts. Even the Television and radio stations. There is a control they are achiving and its very threating to all. I believe the 911 here in America, wasn't just Osama bin Laden؟s master plan. Civil Rights are being attacked here. It being too difficult for them to come right out with it, the 911 plan, the trying to war with Iraq, all devised to bring us under total control. The lies about Palestine and who is the rightful owner there is a very big surprise to me. It seems the a war with Iraq, will be a cover for the Israeli to do something to Palestine? Lift this shroud so that I may SEE.
I've downloaded the flyers, English and Spanish.

Sabera: I agree in principle with the idea of Palestinian refugees having a right to return to Israel, but what is to happen to us, Jews? There are some 4 million Palestinian refugees waiting to return to Israel, but there are 5 million Jews in Israel and 1.5 million Israeli Arabs. Surely, Israel is too small to absorb an additional 4 million Palestinian refugees!? Can Israel survive if the number of Arabs becomes larger than that of Jews?

The end result would be to turn Israel into a defacto Bi-National state in which the Jews will be a minority. What guarantees can the Jews get of future decent treatment from the Palestinian majority?
Will this merely swtich tables and the Palestinians change places with the Jews? Will today's refugees become tomorrow's oppressors?
Can we get along in Israel/Palestine under a Bi-National platform? Right now, neither the Israeli nor the Palestinian leadership, political class or intellectuals manifest any interest in this kind of arrangement.

What are your thoughts?

I found the following message really powerful. Most people in the worldof all faiths do believe in the Palestinan cause and feel disgusted at how the Israelis treat the Palestinians however in the present political climate there is little we can do apart from verbally debate and defend the Palestinian cause. Everytime I see anything on TV about Palestine I just cry from all the suffering that I see. I do think there is always hope and the quote below is the biggest hope of all. I really do pray that there is peace one day and that the Palestinian people have a home land soon.

"Palestinians have a simple message to most Israelis and Zionists: 8.5 million Palestinians are going no where. The sooner the majority of Israelis and Zionists understand this simple message, the faster they shall wake up from their delusional coma."

The only solution to the Palestinian conflict is a Bi-National State. In this state, both Jews and Palestinians will have equal citizenship rights. The country can be modeled on the Canadian Federation, where English and French share the land with equal rights.

To split such a small land into two states would condemn both successor states to poverty; together in a Confederation, Jews and Palestinian can prosper and heal the wounds of 54 years of conflict.

Its time for Peace, its time for Democracy.

The battle over Palestine is definitely a war, but it underlies a battle that transcends the Jewish and Palestinian struggles. For the Jews, the battle over Israel is a continuation of the worldwide battle of anti-semitism. For Palestinians, the battle to establish their own state alongside Israel is a battle to achieve self-determination despite the ambivalence of their fellow Arab states. The Israelis and Palestinians therefore both have a vested interest in Palestine. It is important that two states learn to live alongside one another.

I will once again respond to Rabbi Ginsburg's claism that Zionism is a secular heresy. It is true that there are factions within the Jewish community over the existance of the state of Israel independent of the coming of the Messiah. But it is one thing to carry an opinion, and another to publicly criticize the existance of the state that provides Jews with their only protection from world anti-Semitism. Never forget that this was the context in which the state of Israel was established. While it may not have precluded the rights of the Palestinians to enjoy their own self-determination, it was viewed as the sole opportunity for the survival of the Jewish people. taken in this context, you Rabbi Ginsburg have no right to criticize it.
Posted by Rabbi Ginsburg on DECEMBER-12-2002 #3482

Zionism is a secular heresy which has brought suffering to BOTH Jews and Palestinians, as well as to countless millions Arabs and Muslims around the world. True Judaism rejects this heretical secular sect. Most great Rabbies have fought this nationalistic creed and have condemned Zionism with all their strength.

NOT ALL Jews support Zionism. see for yourselves: www.jewsnotzionists.com and www.jewsagainstzionism.com
The Torah true Jews have never accepted Zionism and its nationalistic creed. The Zionists do not represent all the Jews. Whole communities both in Israel(Mea Shearim neighbourhood in Jerusalem), as well as many outside of the Zionist entity are against this heresy.

I urge you to create dialog and negotiation with our groups, so that the Zionist inspired bloodhed in Palestine ends.

Our creed is that ALL Palestinian refugees should be allowed to return home. Palestinians should get ALL government power in the ENTIRE territory of Palestine. And all Zionist armies, and groupings in Palestine must be disarmed and removed from power.
These are what we propose as the platform for talks. All of these things we can bring about TOGETHER.
What we ask is that you negotiate in good faith, as the TRUE and ONLY sovereigns in PAlestine, and in a spirit of generosity you will permit some Jewish communities attached to the Holy sites in Hebron and Jerusalem remain in Palestine, under your rule and protection after you regain full sovereign political control of your land. Also you will allow some Jewish pilgrims to visit the Jewish Holy sites in Hebron and Jerusalem, like the custom was for centuries, before the Zionists instigated the conflict between Jews and Palestinians.

If this platform is acceptable to you, please contact us and let us seek an end to this conflict.

Not ALL Jews are bad, and not ALL Palestinians are good. This Hitler-like way of thinking is a sign of BIGOTRY, usually developed by brainwashing youngsters. The keyword is ALL. Beware of this terrible disease, and if you're infected already and you're old enough, than try to find a cure. Knowledge, logic, and rational thinking usually help.

I know i have already signed this guest book but i saw an entry that really caught my attention. It was from an israeli by the name of Tom Levi, he claims that he wants peace in the Holy Land and that all we have to do is say the word and they will kick sharon...well here's what i have to say about his entry. With all do respect u people don't know the meaning of peace. You would think u would have learned a valuable lesson after what happened to your own people in the Holocaust, but Noooo. You had to come to our country and claim it as your own. How DARE you!!! All the suffering and occupation and humiliation we have suffered by your hands. All the family we have have lost, our brothers, our sisters, our mothers, our fathers, grandparents, shall I go on or do u understand my point? Our houses that u destroyed that our grandparents built with their own blood and sweat. U have the audacity to say that we are the ones killing your people. U know what the best part of all this is, is that instead of our people holding our heads down, we hold them high, knowing that Palestine will and i mean WILL be returned to the rightful owners us....the Palestinians. Long live Falasteen Ya Rabb.

We have received this rather lengthy email, which we have decided to publish to convey to Palestinians that not all Americans are the same.

Webmaster

Dear Webmaster:

I have bookmarked your website. I have a few comments that I feel are important to share--not because they're mine, but because I feel they give insights into what's wrong with Americans. And that has to be addressed, because Americans vote, and our elected politicians depend on our votes. The American vote can overpower special interest lobby groups.

We are uneducated as to what's going on in the Middle East. I've been studying it for over a year. I'm neither Muslim nor Jewish. I think I'm a pretty average, "garden variety" American. If I had any bent in the beginning, it was that I found Arabs to be somewhat frightening. I'd read stories about female genital mutilation, the subjugation of women and in some cases, life-or-death decisions over them by male family members, complete with stoning. Some Arab nations are truly backward. But not all.

I started from the same blissful ignorance that I feel plagues most average Americans. Israel was a romantic story of an incessantly dispossessed people who'd just been through a true holocaust by any standard, and who finally got their home.

But all is not well. It took me under an hour on links through Google.com as a starting point, to begin getting pretty disturbed by what I was reading. It was not at all what I expected. I didn't sleep well that night. The next morning, I read more.

A year of reading foreign news websites (and moderate ones, at that--e.g., Ha'aretz, and Jordan Times, both of which do tell the same stories) as well as some more radical ones (both rabid Zionist as well as rabid Islamist) plus pages and pages on the UN website, it's been quite an education. Not at all what I expected.

I cannot imagine having a tank rumble into my driveway, giving me 15 minutes notice to get my dogs, my family photo albums, my children, my elderlies and any valuables I can sell for food, out of the house before it will be bulldozed into rubble, and life as I know it will come to an abrupt halt.

I cannot imagine having my livelihood depend on trees that I've carefully tended, and before me, my father, and before him, my grandfather, and before him, his grandfather, uprooted. For a bypass road or for a separation wall.

I cannot imagine having lived peacefully in a village, and then having hostile foreigners, powered by the excuse of their religious interpretations, destroy my village, torch its generator (with the promise that a replacement will be torched), and contaminate my water supply.

I cannot imagine having to start out for my workplace at 4am instead of 8am only to travel 5 miles to be there by 8:30, because a checkpoint is in between, never knowing how long it will take to get through it. Or if I will get through it. Depending on the officer on duty (an 18-year-old), I may be shot, and it may well not get recorded, and will very unlikely be in the news. Every day would be a goodbye to my family with unknown results.

I cannot imagine not being able to leave my house for days, or weeks at a time, or if I do venture outside, I will possibly, and in some cases, probably, will be shot with a bullet that could kill me, but at least could make me bleed and likely get infected. (I could lose that precious leg because I cannot imagine, under those circumstances, additionally not being able to be transported to a hospital to fix it.)

I cannot imagine being locked up and contained with five frustrated children into a small house in the heat of summer with sparce food and water, probably not refrigerated. They would drive me nuts!

I cannot imagine having my electricity lines cut by another human being and having my water supply stopped.

I would soon have nothing left. Meanwhile, I'm a valuable human being, I think, I'm intelligent, I'm definitely a great mother, I bake an outstanding apple pie, I sacrifice for my children, and my mother loved me and taught me well.

The American voter needs to understand this and get outraged. Bombing the Trade Center won't cut it. That just draws lines in the sand and creates equally mindless obstinance, increasing hate. It obliterates inquiry into the cause of the conflict. We all get caught up, on both sides, in a shark feeding frenzy. We snap up everything in sight. Mindlessly.

It's so stupid. Every dollar that's spent supporting "terrorist" operations or defenses against "terrorist" operations only feeds obstinance and wastes resources that could feed and nurture many people and make so muich better their lives. To that extent, we are, ironically, potential partners in destruction.

Our current road is not an effective way. It doesn't work for anybody. All our dollars would be better spent educating the American public (and other publics) as to what the situation really is in the Middle East. All our resources could, so much more intelligently, be pooled together to focus on examining the root cause of the problem and rein it in, giving it limits and assurances so that it can finally go to sleep for a night. It makes no sense to be bombing one another when we could so much more intelligently be educating one another.

Sincerely,
Carol

I agree! It seems that Israel's system of government is a Jewish Democracy, not a real Democracy. I feel that what Israel has been doing for the past 60 years to the Palestinian people is horrible. Surely, they should sanctioned by the U.N., yet as I'm sure you are aware, they are backed by the U.S., and the U.N. isn't about to do anything to anger the U.S. I have one more point though, however it doesn't necessarily relate to democracy. It seems that on television, there is far more coverage of suicide bombings against Israelis than there is about the West Bank Offensive, even though far more Palestinians have died than Israelis. This is a mis-conception to many people though. One of my fellow classmates (a Jewish person that has never been to Israel) argued that more Israelis are killed than Palestinians. I presented him the figures of April 2002, and he called them a lie. Several other classmates of mine were also astonished. I think that much more needs to be done to let people know the suffering of the Palestinians.
