60. An indication of the distribution of groves according to size is given in table 1, which is has ed on the Citrus Control Board registration for 1942. It classifies groves according to size and indicates the proportion of groves in each group and the proportion of citrus land in each group to the total area then registered (274,080 dunums).

The position thus is that nearly 85 per cent. of the groves, covering nearly 46 per cent. of the total citrus area, are under 10 acres in extent. Of the balance of the area, slightly less than one-sixth is occupied by groves of 50 acres or over.
61. Exports of citrus, which totalled only about 1 1/4 million cases* in 1922, had increased to some 3 million cases in 1930 and 1931 and reached a peak of 15i million cases in 1939 with a F.O.B. value of over £P.4i million. The expansion of the industry is illustrated in table 2.
