There is a School of Agriculture, comprising a 2-year course in the Faculty of Science, followed by a 2-year course at the Agricultural College at Rehovoth.
There is also a Department of Education for the training of teachers for secondary schools. The course of training is normally of two years taken concurrently with degree courses.
'!.'here is a post-graduate medical school including a laboratory for cancer research : and preparations are now in progress for the establishment, in conjunction with the Hadassah Hospital, of a complete School of Medicine.
The first degree of the University is an M.A. or M.Sc. Post graduate study is pursued by research students who have the degree of M.A. or its equivalent, and who, after two years of study and the presentation of a thesis, may acquire the degree of Ph.D.
96. The University possesses collections in botany, zoology, geology and antiquities. The Jewish National and University Library contains close on 400,000 volumes, and valuable collections of incunabula and manuscripts.
97. In 1943/44 there was a staff of 155 lecturers and assistants, including 38 professors. The number of ordinary students, seriously depleted by enlistment and other causes during the War, was 560, and research students 35. 65 students graduated at the end of the year, and 5 graduates were awarded the Ph.D.
The total expenditure of the University in that year was just under £P.200,000, covered mainly by contributions from abroad.
