CHAPTER XVII.

13. Wage rates must be distinguished from earnings. The former connotes the rate of remuneration for a specified period of time per hour, day, week or month. The latter refers to the actual amount received during a certain period, including all allowances, overtime pay and bonuses.

14. In table l are shown the daily wage rates paid to Arab males, Jewish males and Jewish females in various branches of industry, during the years 1939 to 1944. To facilitate comparison, the actual wage rates in any given year are also expressed as a percentage of 1939.
