room units. It should be noted that this figure includes an allowance of 12o,{, to cover buildings intended for use as shops, offices and local service industries. In addition, in the case of "Tel Aviv and Haifa, which are partially industrialised areas, a further deduction of 15% of the total built-up area constructed has been deducted to allow for the construction of workshops and factories. In urban areas, other than the four main towns, the statistical data is given in the form of value of buildings constructed and in these cases the number of residential room units constructed has been obtained by dividing the value of buildings constructed by 150 which, as in the case of the four main towns, makes allowance for shops, offices and local service industries. In the case of the partially industrial areas of Ramat Gan, Rishon-le-Zion and Petah Tiqva a further deduction of 10% has been made to allow for the construction of workshops and factories. Figures of room units constructed during the year 1944-1945 were obtained directly from the records of the department of the Controller of Heavy Industries.
