The figures in respect of slaughter stock do not cover the whole of the consumption in Palestine, since they do not include the majority of Arab villages and many Jewish settlements. The population covered by the slaughter house areas may, however, be taken as representing about 80% of the Jewish community and 38% of the Arab.
8. The following table shows the imports of meat and the quantities of meat estimated to have been derived from animals slaughtered in Palestine.

Applying the ratios mentioned above, and assuming that all tinned beef and 'other meat' was consumed by the Jewish community, the average consumption by Jews would be approximately 21 kgms. per head per year in the period 1930-31 and about 25 kzms. in the period 1937-38.
