CHAPTER XXII.

With regard to paragraph 3 of your letter, I am to inform you that in the event of the dissolution of the enlarged Agency, His Majesty's Government, on being notified by the Zionist Organization that the enlarged Agency has been dissolved, will, provided that they are satisfied that its organization and constitution are at that time appropriate, recognise the Zionist Organization as the Jewish Agency :£or the purpose of Article 4 of the Mandate for Palestine and the Organization shall in that event be deemed to have reverted in all respects to the status which it possessed before the enlargement of the Agency.

84. The supreme governing body of the Jewish Agency is a Council composed of 112 representatives of the Zionist Organisation elected by the Zionist Congress and 112 representatives of non-Zionist Jews in various countries, appointed in each country in a manner best suited to local conditions. The number of non Zionists includes 44 from the U.S.A., 11 from the British Empire and 6 from Palestine. Ordinary meetings of the Council take place once in two years in close connection with and immediately after the sessions of the Zionist Congress.

85. There is also an Administrative Committee of the Jewish Agency which meets in the intervals between meetings of the Council to receive reports from the Executive, to decide during such intervals questions of policy and to exercise general supervision over the activities of the Executive. It consists of forty members, twenty of whom are appointed by the Zionist and twenty by the non-Zionist members of the Council; it usually meets simultaneously with the Zionist General Council.

86. The Executive of the Jewish Agency is appointed by the Council and includes at present all members of the Zionist Executive and three non-Zionists. The office of the President of the Jewish Agency is vested in the President for the time being of the Zionist Organisation. The executive offices of the Jewish Agency are situated in Jerusalem. Other offices are maintained in London, Washington, New York and Geneva. The names of the present members of the Executive of the Jewish Agency are given below :-
