of £P.30,000 to Tel Aviv on account of the "emergency expenditure arising out of the war and the cost of social services performed by Tel Aviv for Jewish residents in Jaffa". This additional grant was approved by the Secretary of State in February, 1945:
153. In May, 1945, the mayor of Tel Aviv again requested that a Commission should be formed to discuss the future of the Jewish quarters. During the financial year 1945/46 no contributions have been made by Jaffa to Tel Aviv because the inhabitants of the Jewish quarters have again refused to pay rates.
