CHAPTER XXV.
tanks at the Haifa terminal and pumping stations along the desert route in Trans-Jordan were constructed; the Company notified the Government on 6th November, 1945, of its intention to construct a second pipeline along the same alignment.

By an agreement dated 10th July, 1933, between the Government of Palestine and the Company an undertaking was given by Government to construct an oil dock at Haifa Harbour and to maintain it. This agreement gave the Company the right to load or unload oil into or from vessels within the oil dock. The Company operates, and has general control over, The oil dock and provides certain services. By a supplemental agreement dated 23rd September, 1938, an arrangement was made whereby the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company is entitled to use the oil dock subject to certain financial conditions. The construction of the oil dock was completed by the end of 1936.

A supplemental Convention made between the High Commissioner and the Iraq Petroleum Company on 29th May, 1939, gave facilities to the Iraq Petroleum Company to .dispose of unrefined petroleum to the Consolidated Refineries Limited for the purposes of the latter's operations in Palestine.

The Conventions and Agreements mentioned above were validated by the Iraq Petroleum Company Conventions and Agreements Ordinance, 1939 and are set out in full in the schedule to that Ordinance".

A Convention regulating the transit of mineral oils through the territory of Trans-Jordan was made at Amman on 11th January, 1931, between the Government of Trans-Jordan and the Iraq Petroleum Company **.

5. The Trans-Arabian Pipeline Company's Concession. On the 7th January, 1946, a Convention, based upon that of the Iraq Petroleum Company's Convention of 1931, was made between the High Commissioner for Palestine and the Trans-Arabian Pipeline Company, a subsidiary of the Arabian-American Oil Company. Under this Convention the Company was granted the right to construct, maintain and operate one or more pipelines, refineries and all ancillary works. The duration of the concession is seventy years. The pipeline or pipelines are to terminate on the coast of Palestine at a point to be agreed between the High Commissioner and the Company. An Ordinance to validate this Convention has been published in Bill form***.
