(b) A prospecting permit entitles the holder to enter upon specified land for the purpose of ascertaining the presence thereon of minerals and to dig trenches and make small excavations thereon for the purpose of prospecting. Since 1930 prospecting permits have been issued and were in force in respect of the following minerals :-

(c) A prospecting licence gives the holder the exclusive right of prospecting upon specified lands and, for this purpose, to enter upon the lands and to put down such borings and execute such other works as are necessary to determine whether the area contains minerals specified in the licence in payable quantities; it also entitles the holder to erect and maintain machinery and plant within the area covered. The minerals in respect of which prospecting licences have been issued and the years during which such licences were in force since 1930 are shown below :-
