9. The Citrus Control Board*.

The functions of the Board are as follows
(a) to enter into contracts with ship-owners or other persons for the conveyance of citrus fruit;
(b) to enter into contracts for the advertisement of citrus fruit in internal and external markets;
(c) to cause to be diverted, when the Board deems it necessary, citrus fruit to such ports of shipment in Palestine as in the opinion of the Board are the most suitable, having regard to weather conditions, storage accommodation and shipping space available;
(d) to make investigations regarding rolling stock and storage requirements for citrus fruit for export and to make recommendations thereon to the appropriate department of Government;
(e) to make recommendations regarding the handling generally of citrus fruit from, on or to railway or road trucks or wagons, and to or from storage sheds;
(f) to control the exhibition of Palestine citrus fruit at exhibitions and elsewhere, and to control the advertisement of Palestine citrus fruit in internal and external markets;
(g) to make such arrangements as are appropriate in the matter of research schemes in relation to wastage of citrus fruit as to the production or utilization of by-products thereof;
(h) to make such arrangements as are requisite in the matter of investigation of conditions or the negotiation of agreements on behalf of the citrus industry as a whole in external markets;
(i) to perform such other functions or duties as may be prescribed by rules made under section 29 of the Citrus Control Ordinance, 1940**.
The Board was appointed in December 1940 under sections 1 to 9 of the Citrus Control Ordinance.
