13. The Diamond Control Board.

Chairman: Mr. G. Walsh, C.M.G., C.B.E., Economic Adviser.

The Controller of Light Industries.

The terms of reference of the Board are :

(1) To take such steps as the Board may deem requisite to control and regulate :-

(a) the importation into, or exportation from, Palestine of diamonds of any description, and

(b) the manufacture in Palestine of, or dealing in Palestine in, diamonds of any description.

(2) Generally to do all such things as may be incidental to the performance by the Board of its functions specified in paragraph (1).

The Board was appointed on 13th August, 1943*. It has statutory powers under the Defence Regulations and is a Competent Authority under Defence Regulation 46.

U. The Diamond Regulation Committee.

Chairman: Mr. G. Walsh, C.:M.G., C.B.E., Economic Adviser.

Members: Mr. J. L. Fletcher, T.D., Deputy Director, Department of Customs, Excise and Trade.

Mr. A. Ehrenfeld, Government Diamond Adviser. Mr. L. D. Watts, Chartered Accountant.

The terms of reference of the Board are to report to Government on the post-war regulation of the diamond industry in consultation with the various interests affected and to recommend the form such regulation shall take. The Board was appointed in August, 1945.

15. The Advisory Committee for Disabled Ex-servicemen**.

Mr. W. H. Chinn, Director of Social Welfare. The Deputy Director of Medical Services.
