46. The Subsidization Committee.

The functions of the Committee are to examine and advise on the policy of subsidization and the sale of essential commodities with a view to reducing the cost of living. The committee deals also with kindred matters. It considers the co-ordination of Government trading with private trade and seeks to encourage the rationalization of the present methods of producing and distributing essential commodities. The committee was appointed in August, 1943.

47. The Textile Advisory Committee.

The terms of reference of this Committee are -

"to act in an advisory capacity to the Controller of Light Industries on the questions of the supply of raw materials and of the supply, distribution and price control of all textiles". The members of this Committee were appointed by Government in June, 1945, after consultation with the War Economic Advisory Council.

The terms of reference of the Board are to advise Government on any matters relating to transport by road, rail, sea or air, including questions of policy, legislation, economy and planning which may be referred to it by Government. The Board was constituted in October, 1945.
