The following table shows to the nearest square kilometre the distribution of most of the 1000 square kilometres of public lauds in which the title has been settled under the Land (Settlement of Title) Ordinance :-

Of the remainder, ten square kilometres lie in the Beisan District, mostly in the hill villages, and another ten in the Huleh area. Two and a half square kilometres are in the village of Shefa 'Amr and in the land reclaimed by Government from the adjacent Na'amein swamps, and twelve square kilometres in Arab villages in and near the Carmel mountain.
The sand dunes mentioned in the table above are mostly in the Gaza and southern Lydda Districts and make up one-sixth of the total figure of 490 square kilometres, whilst the rocky area is less than a half. The marshy areas are around Lake Huleh.

The 700 square kilometres claimed but not yet settled as public land include some 208 square kilometres occupied on lease, written or implied, 96 of it to Jews and the rest to Arabs, the latter mostly tenants on iiftlik land. Nearly 400 square kilometres are allocated to the Army and Government departments, and include "Forest Reserves". The remainder consists of lands in the Jordan Valley.
