The total expenditure on subsidization designed to keep down the cost of living amounted to £P.2,075,649 in the year 1945-46. The amount devoted to assisting the citrus industry in the year 1945-1946 was £P.568,465, in 1946-47 £P.542,044, while during the whole period lnJ0-47 it was ,£P.4,150,672.

The total expenditure on Public Works Extraordinary since the date of the formation of the civil Government on 1st July, 1920, to March, 1947, has been £P.10,884,000. Over £P.3 million of the total expenditure on Public Works Extraordinary is specifically attributable to the internal disturbances or to the war but this does not represent the full expenditure on such works.
