The estimated maximum requirements for the replacement of vehicles which have been put off the road or which are likely to be put off the road during 1947 are as follows :-

Licences are granted freely for the importation of motor vehicles of all types from the U.J<. and the continent of Europe with the exception of the bard currency countries.
In respect of the first quarter of 1947, licences have been granted for importation from the United States of America of vehicles to the number set out below to the value of approximately $1,400,000

The number was substantially the total ascertained availability of motor vehicles from the United States of America for shipment during the first quarter of 1947.
The approval .of the Secretary of State will be sought for the granting of licences to import more motor vehicles from the United States of America when it is confirmed that the vehicles for which import licences have already been issued will be shipped.
Tyres. (§ 38)
The position regarding tyres, which is set out below, is satisfactory with the exception that there is a shortage of one of the sizes which is most required for omnibuses and lorries.
