This aromatic bush with its velvet leaves was and still one of the most common things available in every Palestinian houses or even minorities existing all over this globe.
The traditional Palestinian tea will not be considered unless it is being boiled with its aromatic leaves.
Many studies have shown that its leaves were used as a remedy for many diseases mainly those affecting the stomach.
It is narrated that it has taken its Arabic name مريمية from Virgin Mary as she began to chew it after giving birth to Jesus Christ (PBUH).
