Gaza - غزة هاشم: In memory of Malcolm X, who was assassinated on February 21, 1965, I share what is perhaps the only photo from Malcolm X's visit to Gaza in 1964. During his visit, he was welcomed by Gaza's chief judge and scholar, Muhammad Khulusi Bseiso. Both men departed our world in 1965.

Palestinian poet Harun Hashim Rashid accompanied Malcolm X throughout his entire Gaza visit. In his memoirs, Rashid wrote about how all the people who met Malcolm X in Gaza loved him, including Sheikh Bseiso.

According to Rashid, judge Bseiso was "impressed by Malcolm X's knowledge, tact, and humility," he made sure to accompany Malcolm X in all of his tour of Gaza's mosques and national institutions.

Harun Hashim Rashid wrote in his memoirs that Malcolm X "came to Gaza with a strong desire to learn about the Palestinian cause. He was a true Muslim who shed tears many times as he heard about the tragedies of Palestinians. He was a humanist and Muslim in essence."
At the end of his trip, judge Muhammad Bseiso insisted on personally taking Malcolm X to the Arish airport in Egypt. As Malcolm X climbed the stairs to board his plane, he waved to us and said, "We shall return! We shall return! "
