Mustafa Abu Ali - |
In late 1960, a group of young Arab men dedicated to the struggle for Palestinian freedom chose to contribute to resistance through film - recording of their lives, hopes and their fight for justice. Working in both fiction and documentary, which took a lot of efforts to tell the stories of Palestine and creating a new kind of cinema. These filmmakers were the founders Abu Ali Mustafa, Sulafa Jadallah, and Hani Jawhariya. Others were Khadija Abu Ali, Ismael Shammout, Rafiq Hijja, Nabiha Lutfi, Fuad Zentut, Jean Chamoun and Samir Nimr. Most were refugees exiled from their homes in Palestine. And there were also Arab brothers in solidarity with them, dedicating their work to one just cause. Their films shown throughout the Arab world and internationally, but never in Palestine. None of the filmmakers were allowed into Palestine, or what is known as Israel. |
