I heard from my Uncle who is currently around 80 years old, that back in World War II, Safad was used as a spying area by the English, and helped to defeat the Germans.
It had a Radio Signal Decoder Station that helped break lots of the German codes during the war and it helped enourmasley in the defeat of the Germans.
I have again heard such related stories by lots of elderley people in the family and even from other familes.
