Just yesterday my grandmother Zuhriya told me about a fun little holiday they used to celebrate for children in Al-Muzari3a. It was called "Khamees Al-Baiyd" (taken from Easter), and all the kids in the village would go around collecting boiled eggs from other people's homes. After they'd collected enough they would go home and paint the eggs, and for the next few days everyone would eat them. It took place once a year and always on a Thursday....
