I was born in Lydda,I don't know when because we left everything including my birth certificate there thinking that we'll be back soon.
I remember the Jewish soldiers adamant to shoot our dog which they did and they forced us away from our home,I kept on crying asking to go back to my home in Lydda, and looking back at the palm tree near our house, this palm tree was the tallest tree in Lydda, but my mother kept on asking me to keep quiet.
In 1994, I visited Lydda with my son,who hasen't seen Palestine before, accompanied by my uncle,(who used to live near Ramallah )who guided us in our tour to where our house used to be,but it was demolished and a new house was built instead, inhabited by a Flasha Jewish family from Ethipia,I looked for the palm tree,it wasn't there anymore,I was told it fell down due to a strom.I took out my camera and took pictures for the site where the palm tree was supposed to be,all of a sudden Israili police Jeep arrived to see what is going on,they didn't ask any questions,as our companion (a well-known Lyddan-still living in Lydda whom we visited in his house)talked to the police.
I went and prayed in the Big mosque, the mosque was very close to the well known St.Jaurgous-Al Khuder Church, which showes the harmony that Muslims and Christians Palestinians used to share ,my feeling can't be described,as this brought back the memories that I have about the church as I used to pass by it when I was a child every time I went to buy something from the nearby shop!!.
Ihope we'll be back to Lydda and Palestine and recover our homes from the illegal immigrants Inshallah.
