Haavara Agreement: How did Zionist leaders react when hundreds of thousands of Europe's Jews lingered in the displaced persons (D.P) camps for years after WWII ended?

The best answer to this question was articulated by NY Times' editor (Arthur Ochs Sulzberger -- who was one of the most prominent Jews in NY City) on October 27th, 1946 describing Zionist leaders' response to such a human tragedy. Our critical analysis follows Mr. Sulzberger article which adds lots of important missing context. We urge you to read this important article with an open mind; it touches on many taboo subjects that are often smothered in the so-called liberal media these days. Ironically, much of what Mr. Sulzberger talked about is currently being censored at his family's paper. Yes, censorship has been on the increase since WWII ended:

Sulzberger Says Advocates of Jewish Statehood Put It Before Haven for Displaced

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.,Oct. 26-- Arthur Hays Sulzberger, publisher of THE NEW YORK TIMES, called tonight for a reversal of the Zionist policy that puts statehood first and refuge for Europe's displaced Jews last, declaring that both aims have thus been jeopardized.
"It is unfair to carry on this political controversy at the expense of the miserable tenants of the D.P. Camps,” Mr. Sulzberger emphasized. “Nor will the philosophical and political ideal of Jewish statehood die by reason of delay if it deserves to live; but refugees will die if humanity too long delays their rescue."

Mr. Sulzberger spoke at a meeting at Read House marked the close of a two-day celebration of the eightieth anniversary of Mizpah Congregation. Mrs. Sulzberger's paternal grandfather, Julius Ochs, was one of the founders of the Congregation and served as its lay Rabbi about ten years. Her father, Adolph S. Ochs, late publisher of THE TIMES, was the donor of its synagogue, a memorial to his parents, Julius and Bertha Ochs.
The Rev. Dr. john Paul Pack, pastor of the First Christian Church of Chattanooga and chairman of the Chattanooga Chapter of the National Conference of Christians and Jews, brought greetings from his church and the Conference. Rabbi Abraham Feinstein, rabbi of the Congregation, presided. Maurice Poss, president of the Mizpah Congregation, presided as toastmaster.
Mr. Sulzberger was introduced by Harry Wise Sr., a brother of the late Mrs. Adolph S. Ochs.

Washington Letter Quoted

Prefacing his remarks on the desperate situation of the displaced persons, Jewish and non-Jewish, whom he saw at first hand and "whose plight would move the hearts of men of stone," Mr. Sulzberger quoted from the famous letter of General Washington on "toleration" addressed to the Hebrew Congregation of Newport, R. I., at a time when two of Mr. Sulzberger's forbears were Warden and Rabbi of the Congregation.
Mr. Sulzberger said at General Washington's ideal of rights being enjoyed as "rights" and not as "the indulgence of others," in which Government gave to persecution no sanction, and in which government claimed only the demeanor Of good citizens, "had worked well for us as citizens of the United States." But when applied to conditions confronting the world today, he added, it appeared an ideal "which, to many now, seems remote and unattainable." Declaring that the "particular 'racial' absurdities of the Nazis" have not been banished with victory but paradoxically "have given rise to other ridiculous 'racial' myths," Mr. Sulzberger said.
"I fear that there are places in Europe in which no sensitive Jew of this generation can live content. In my judgment, it will not be possible for them to readjust psychologically to environments polluted by so many crimes. or to former neighbors corrupted as the witnesses of so many wrongs."

Plight Of Jewish Refugee

Addressing himself to the plight ot the Jewish refugee, the worst sufferer as a group but a minor percentage among displaced persons, Mr. Sulzberger said he got from Philip S. Bernstein of Rochester. adviser on Jewish affairs to Gen. Joseph T. McNarney an over-all total estimate of between 300,000 and 350,000.
With most of them desirous of going to Palestine, Mr. Sulzberger declared that the entry of even the maximum figure would not find the Arabs outvoted and that Arab objections might have been removed with an assurance of sovereignty.
But the clamor for statehood, Mr. Sulzberger asserted, "introduced an insoluble political element into a manageable, social and economic problem." "I cannot rid myself of the feeling," he added, "that the unfortunate Jews of Europe's D. P. camps are helpless hostages for whom statehood has been made the only acceptable ransom."

"I acknowledge," he continued, "that those who view Jews as a race instead of as a faith, and a faith only, as I do, have reasons for national aspirations which I do not share. [It should be emphasized that what Mr. Sulzberger shared in 1946 has been already proven to be true by DNA science, and many anti-Zionist Jews shared their DNA test result to prove this point]
"I acknowledge that those to whom a Jewish state has been a life-long goal can be expected to pursue it even when the costs are high, but it seems to me that the costs of statehood today in terms of human suffering are greater than people can be asked to bear."

Views of Arabs Cited

There were, Mr. Sulzberger said, countless Arabs "who would admit that there is room at the moment in Palestine for 350,000 Jewish refugees. but not room for a Jewish state."
Mr. Sulzberger said he was opposed to political Zionism not solely because of the fate of Jewish refugees but because he disliked the "coercive methods" of Zionists in this country who use economic means to silence those with differing views.
"We in the United States should open our doors to persons of all faiths and creeds. France seeks new citizens and they are at her door clamoring for entry. England, historic refuge for oppressed nationals, can take its share. Admitting that the Jews of Europe have suffered beyond expression, why in God's name should the fate of all these unhappy people be subordinated to the single cry of statehood?"
Mr. Sulzberger closed with a tribute to Adolph S. Ochs, who, said, "contributed more than any man I know to molding into a responsible press the free press granted in the First Amendment of our Constitution." (Here is the PDF version)

Critical Analysis

Just in case you think Mr. Sulzberger was exaggerating, and his statement was an off-the-cuff remark; think again. We urge you to examine Yosef Grodzinsky's "In the Shadow of the Holocaust" and James Clowes' thesis; both of them investigated this issue in depth from primary sources. Based on our research, their assessments were accurate, and we vouch for them. Keep scrolling; you will find more evidence from other credible sources. That said, we are forced to ask:

A) if this is how Zionist leaders behaved after the horrors of the calamity became known, how do you think they acted during the 1930s and the first half of the 1940s?
B) If this is how Zionist leaders treated Europe's Jews, do you think Arab Jews fared any better? i.e., bombing the synagogues in Baghdad to nudge Iraqi Jews into leaving.
C) Is it possible that the Polish Jewish community (who survived the Holocaust) was nudged into leaving also the same way? (see James D. Clowes p. 19 ).
D) Pay attention to how Mr. Sulzberger referred to Jews not as a race or ethnicity as Zionists made it to be but as carriers of the Jewish faith and traditions, which was typical of most European Jews who opposed Zionism (also the highlight in the 4th column). If you voice such an opinion nowadays, you will be canceled almost immediately for denying the "Jewish people's" right of self-determination. Just in case you are curious, here is the DNA evidence that backs up what Mr. Sulzberger was referring to. This is one best proofs that censorship has been on the upswing since WWII ended. That is why we favor reading old books and news articles; they are way more honest than today's authors.

E) If alternative destinations other than Palestine was made available to those refugees in the DP camps, how many of those would have chosen Palestine as their final destination? We urge you to read what Morris Ernst (an American jew who was close to both FDR and Truman who knew the situation in the DP camps well) wrote in 1948 about this matter.
F) When American lawmakers were adamant that the British must open Palestine for those Jewish refugees in the DP camps, don't you find it hypocritical that at the same time they were adamant that America's doors would remain shut in front of those same refugees? What was reprehensible was that US law markers (many of them were Jewish) were busy to harbor useful Nazis in the US (i.e., genocidal rocket & vaccine scientists) while they closed America's doors in front of those Jewish refugees! (see Operation Paperclip for the boring details).
G) Could Zionist leaders use diaspora Jews' plight as a lever again (using Ben-Gurion & Co. sinister terminology that would create a refugee crisis again), and their so-called Never Again slogan is factually an empty slogan?

In a nutshell, if Hitler or Eichmann cared, then David Ben-Gurion & Co did too. Let us hope American Jewry will wake up before it is too late for them.

As you contemplate the earlier article, we think it is worthwhile to share with you how American presidents (FDR & Truman) knew well that it wasn't fair to ask Palestinians to receive persecuted European Jewish refugees (who could end up replacing and dispossessing them) when it was America who closed its doors to them (his close friend and assistant Morris Ernst said something very similar around the same period).

Sadly, when FDR spoke these words below, the US House of Representatives was discussing taking steps to force Great Britain to open Palestine for unlimited Jewish immigration in Feb. 1944. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this infamous hearing happened while the last million were still alive; no hearing whatsoever about saving them. Not even a single US lawmaker dared to demand that the US to accept what they were asking Great Britain and the Palestinians to do! Ironically, it was only the Gentile Arab (Professor Philip Khouri Hitti of Princeton) who demanded such a thing. Mr. Hitti bluntly stated: Put up or shut up; if Americans care about saving Jews, then why didn't you open your gates? Why have the gates been closed for decades if you care about saving Jews?

Anyhow, here is what Peter Grose (who was one of the most prominent journalists at the NY Times) had to say in "Israeli in the mind of America" about these fateful moments. We hope you will find what he wrote to be useful:

Note how Zionists publicly chewed the British foreign secretary Ernest Bevin (although he was known to be a Zionist sympathizer) for saying the obvious: Truman was demanding 100,000 entry permits to Palestine so that the Jews would not, and most importantly that creating the "Jewish state" actually encourages other states to cleanse themselves of their Jewish citizens. In layman's terms, Zionism foments antisemitism by design. The reader might find it interesting that almost two decades earlier, Edwin Montagu (a Jewish member of the British cabinet) warned Lord Balfour in August 1917 of exactly the same thing that Mr. Bevin described below. Pay attention to how Zionists, plus the Jewish and the American press, painted Mr. Bevin the )))antisemite((( for calling Zionism for what it is:


Note how David Ben-Gurion was concerned that the United States might allow in Jewish refugees (who were in the DP camps); therefore, God forbid, disrupt his sinister LEVER plot. Time and again, instigating a Jewish refugee crisis and exploiting Jewish plight politically was (and still is) intrinsic to Zionism in the service of Zionist causes (i.e., the creation of the "Jewish state"). It is worth noting that Ben-Gurion made a similar REMARK seven years earlier, but it was far more sinister and blunt. Just in case you are wondering about the timing, YES, that was a month after the infamous Kristallnacht pogrom) David was so fuming with anger when the British saved 10,000 German Jewish children at the drop of a hat instead of sending them to Palestine! If you think that David's remark was a one-off statement and we have misinterpreted it, think twice. Here's Tom Segev's assessment of Ben-Gurion's policy before, during, and after the Holocaust (1949, The First Israelis, p. 97). Ben-Gurion's obsession with increasing Jewish immigration to Palestine consumed Ben-Gurion even after the war Nakba, when Palestine was emptied of its people. Ironically, American Jewry investigated the gist of our arguments in early 1983, and they were quickly nixed; it was too much for American Jewry to handle. In a nutshell, what was bad for Jews was always good for Zionism:

Please note what Mr. Grose wrote about the Elder of Zion (regarding the meeting of 19 wealthy American Jews --a.k.a. Sonneborn Institute -- that Rudolf Sonneborn organized) at the end of page 210. This type of activity, by wealthy Jews, never stopped after Nakba; as we shall see, it only became much bigger and way more sophisticated than you ever thought. Case in point, see the Mega Group which was founded and funded by Jeffery Esptein's protégé Lex Wexner. Unsurprisingly, a very similar thing was repeated after the Oct. 7th Gaza Raid (watch Norman Finkelstein and Bernie Sanders speaking about the Jewish supremacist billionaire class who managed to fire several ivy league university presidents). Why change a winning formula, of course, until it explodes! Also note how the US D.O.J., on page 211, was reluctant to enforce US rule of law when they knew that illegal arms were being shipped out of the US to a non-state actor, which has been exploited by Zionists since then. It may interest you to know that Mr. Grose came back to this point (on page 280 and on page 288 were Marshall's State Department threatened Zionists of disclosing what they have collect on their agitations and illegal activities) again to emphasize how Zionists used their connections in the FBI (i.e., Edger Hoover) to short circuit the rule of law when they were caught red handed smuggling weapons out of the US. As if anything has changed in the past seven plus decades:

We have scanned a couple of pages from "In the Shadow of the Holocaust" by Yosef Grodzinsky (p. 97-98) to make our point. Here is Ben-Gurion's response when he heard that Jewish children in the DP camps would be heading to France and Britain rather than Palestine. David's behavior here exactly mimics how he behaved four years before the Holocaust after the Kristallnacht pogrom when Britain managed to save 10,000 German Jewish children (see Kindertransport for more details). Ben-Gurion lost his mind and incited their murder because they chose to save themselves in Britain rather than Palestine:
