Haavara FAQs: Why did David Ben-Gurion describe Jewish pain and suffering as the LEVER after the Nazis enacted the Nuremberg Race Laws in Sept 1935?

David Ben-Gurion's approach to Jewish refugee crises, as articulated by him and documented by his official biographer, Shabtai Teveth, utilized the suffering of European Jews as a "LEVER" to achieve a Jewish majority in Palestine, paving the way for the creation of the "Jewish state." Professor Aviva Halamish similarly described this strategy of "exploiting Jewish pain and suffering." We were astonished to find that Ben-Gurion's exact terminology, "lever," was cited by Prof. Halamish. This discovery came after examining Teveth's biography, "The Burning Ground", see pages 852, 854, and 848, a chapter tellingly titled "Disaster Means Strength."

Key points regarding this doctrine:

• Articulation: Ben-Gurion vividly laid out this plan --of monetizing Jewish suffering-- in late 1938, a month after the Kristallnacht pogrom.
• Contempt for Rescue: Ben-Gurion and his circle never retracted this antisemitic hate speech, which was closely followed by Hitler's infamous Reichstag speech (less than 60 days apart). Moreover, Ben-Gurion reiterated this "LEVER doctrine" on October 25, 1942, during debates on the "One Million Man Plan" at the height of the calamity (see page 20).
• Policy Implementation: Ben-Gurion's hate speech was translated into policy during WWII, with the Patria Disaster serving as a chilling early example ("the canary in the coal mine"). Ben-Gurion was reportedly "completely tuned out" regarding rescue efforts, viewing "rescue" as having negative connotations for Zionists, which explains the meager budget allocated to such efforts. Teveth's documentation shows virtually "NOTHING" relevant to rescuing Jews.
• Widespread Adoption: The "LEVER doctrine" was embraced by the vast majority of Zionists. Menachem Begin, for instance, discouraged the Bergson Group in 1943 from pursuing general European Jewish rescue, advocating for a Palestine-only (a.k.a. state-first) focus.
• Fake Valor: Why Did Zionist Jews Hoist Nazis Flag on Their Ships in the 1930s?
  Historical Recognition: Even secular Jewish intellectuals recognized the power of this strategy. Hannah Arendt, in 1946 (two years before the Nakba), recognized Ben-Gurion's "LEVER" and compared it to steam power moving a locomotive. She also equated Zionism with the messianic catastrophic movement of Shabbatai Tzvi.
• Investigated, Then Nixed: American Jewry investigated these matters in early 1983, but the investigation was quickly "nixed."
• In the DP Camps: Disturbingly, these policies continued after WWII ended and affected the Displaced Persons (DP) camps.
• Similar Views: Other prominent Zionist leaders held similar views, including Dan Kurzman, another Ben-Gurion biographer, and Dr. Chaim Weizmann, who wrote something similar just before the Evian Conference in 1938.

The more we research Zionist policies and actions in the 1930s and 40s, the more real contempt we find for Diaspora Jewry. These were not isolated, angry comments, but policies executed while Jews faced destruction.

Imagine the global outcry if FDR or Winston Churchill had used such language --terms like "lever" or "firewood"-- to describe leveraging Jewish pain and suffering for their political goals. Allow that to sink in for a minute, and imagine what Jews would have done to them. We wonder: could Jerusalem's Mufti Hajj Amin al-Husseini had used such language? We have addressed that in another section if you care! 

The Jews, above all people, must heed these historical lessons to prevent them from being repeated. From Auschwitz to Gaza, a straight line could be drawn! Sadly, now after the fact, we can clearly see that was predictable, and Ben-Gurion's lever is not over yet.

854. Please pay attention to how the "Ministry of Truth" created a kind of a "new speak language" where words such as rescue started to have negative connotations. How does such new speak language not explain why little was spent on rescuing Europe's Jews during WWII?:
855. Please pay attention to Teveth's gaslight with regard to Evian Conference when he forgot to mention that Zionists lobbied with tooth and nail against any safe haven except for Palestine. Teveth repeated a common lie (mostly by Jewish historians) that no country offered to take in Jews, although we've found the exact opposite. For example, Latin America alone took in close to 100,000 Jews. Anyhow, to present Ben-Gurion in a better light, Teveth cited that David Ben-Gurion wouldn't object to Polish Jewish migration to America and Argentina, but the doors were closed. As Tom Segev once described Ben-Gurion's response in The Seventh Million, it was more like a newspaper talk. If Ben-Gurion and the Jewish Agency Executive (JAE) were serious, they would have lobbied for such a scheme; they would've allocated any budget to make it happen. On the other hand, when the Jewish Agency's budget was examined during WWII, you will see how 7/8th of the rescue budget was diverted to building their future "Jewish state." It should be NOTED also that this evil policy persisted even after WWII ended in the DP camps:

858. Note in the last two paragraphs, Mr. Teveth made it clear that JAE approved what Ben-Gurion said, meaning rescuing Jews wasn't their business. That said, he followed it was a gaslight that JAE collected funds for rescue, which was spent to bribe Nazi officials. On the other hand, when the rescue budget was examined, we clearly can see 7/8th of it was diverted to building the state! Samual Martin (of the Bergson Group) emphasized this point in this short clip; this is an open secret. Keep in mind that the Jewish Agency made sure to hoard much of the rescue budget to itself, meaning that the rescue funds were managed by the same people who made rescuing Jews not their business:

861. At the top of the page, Mr. Teveth gaslighted his readers by not citing the date, which is a common Hasbarah tactic. The Jewish Agency was against bombing the death camps and the railroads leading to them until late June 11th, 1944. Jewish Agency Executive (JAE) relented and asked the Allies to bomb the death camps on June 19th, 1944, ONLY after the Jewish public was enraged when the Auschwitz Protocols was released. What was tragically funny was that it was Rabbi Abba Hillel Silver who demanded not to bomb the death camps and the railroads leading to them during the infamous "American Jewish Conference" in late 1943:
